I had the privilege of connecting with Shahrzad (Shazi), an EMDR therapist and psychotherapist based in East Hollywood, just steps away from Little Armenia.

Her work is deeply rooted in creativity, cultural traditions, and a belief that healing happens together. Shahrzad’s approach to therapy is intentionally sensory and grounding.

She begins sessions by offering tea while displaying her beautifully curated fresh flower arrangements, these small gestures help clients feel at home. “Something as simple as a cup of tea can help people regulate and arrive fully in the moment.”

These practices, along with tools like sand trays and mindfulness with rocks, create a safe and welcoming space for clients to process at their own pace. One of the many ways Shahrzad has become a pillar in our community.

Shahrzad’s vision for the future is even more expansive. She dreams of integrating food, movement, and outdoor therapy into her practice, ideas that tie back to her belief that healing is holistic and deeply connected to community.

Born and raised in Iran, Shahrzad carries the wisdom of cultural traditions into her work, and outside of her practice, she finds joy in dancing, gardening, and coloring. In a fast-paced city like LA, her work is a reminder that slowing down, honoring culture, and tending to the senses can transform the way we heal.

Through her vision, Shahrzad is cultivating more than a practice, she’s nurturing a therapeutic ecosystem where clients can feel safe, supported, and grounded. 🌸
